Every year at the end of August, the Ukrainian people bow their heads in memory of the heroes who gave their lives in the war against the Russian aggressor. This date entered history through the events of 2014, when near Ilovaisk a treacherous crime was committed: Ukrainian soldiers were promised a safe passage out of the encirclement, but the agreements were cynically broken, and hundreds of defenders were executed.

Through the sunflower fields lay the final path of many warriors, and since then this flower has become a sign of their sacrifice and a symbol of our remembrance.

Kneeling in prayer, we ask the Lord to grant rest in the heavenly dwellings to all who have fallen and to bestow eternal glory upon those who became the foundation of our freedom.

29 серпня – день національної скорботи та вшанування тих, хто поліг за Україну

Щороку наприкінці серпня український народ схиляє голову перед пам’яттю героїв, які віддали своє життя у війні з російським агресором. Саме ця дата увійшла в історію через події 2014 року, коли під Іловайськом було вчинено підступний злочин: українським військовим пообіцяли безпечний вихід з оточення, але домовленостей цинічно не дотрималися, і сотні захисників були розстріляні.

Полями соняшників пролягав останній шлях багатьох воїнів, і відтоді ця квітка стала знаком їхньої жертви та символом нашої пам’яті.

Схиляючи коліна у молитві, просимо Господа упокоїти душі усіх полеглих у небесних оселях та дарувати вічну славу тим, хто став фундаментом нашої свободи.
